At the invitation of the International Astronautical Federation, EUTELSAT IGO participated in the
73rd edition of the International Astronautical Congress, the leading annual event for global space actors. Hosted in Paris, the event entitled Space for All, attracted more than 8,000 participants and brought together state actors, intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, academia, research scientists, start-ups, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers.
EU Commissioner for Internal Market Mr Thierry Breton and French Prime Minister Ms Elisabeth Borne both emphasised the importance of independent and reliable access to space for Europe. EU’s ambition to set up a multi-orbital satellite constellation that will guarantee a secure connectivity to EU Member States was reiterated.
Numerous plenary lectures and technical sessions addressed the issues of space sustainability, the role of space technologies in adapting to the consequences of climate change, the importance of deep space exploration and the developments of Low Earth Orbit constellations in the next decades.
The next International Astronautical Congress will take place in Baku (Azerbaijan) in October 2023.
